Campership

What is Campership?

Camp Fire and Camp Birchrock believe all youth should be able to have a traditional camp experience, regardless of their families’ financial standing.  The Campership fund makes camp a reality by providing scholarships to families seeking help with camp fees.  This fund is supported entirely by donations from individuals, businesses, and local organizations as well as Northwoods United Way grant funding.  These donors see how important camp can be to a young person.

Campership funds are disbursed on a first come, first served basis and can be applied to Day Camp Sessions, Resident Camp Sessions or both.  We ask that families contribute a portion of total fees if possible, and typically offer scholarships covering between 25% and 75% of camp costs, though a limited number of full scholarships are occasionally awarded based on need.

How to Apply:

Step One: Register your camper online and pay for only the $15 application fee.  The normally required 10% deposit on sessions is WAIVED for the time being.

Step Two:  Fill out new online Campership Application.

*Both steps must be complete in order to be considered for Campership.

Our Donors & Partners

The Campership program has been in place for so long that we don’t even have an exact date of when it started! Our philosophy has always been that every child deserves a summer camp experience, and through Campership, that has been achieved.  Every summer, 40% of our campers receive some amount of Campership to contribute towards their camp tuition for the summer. Last year, we proudly gave out $12,526 in Campership to local families. We are able to continue our Campership program through community non-profit sponsors and generous local donors.
